UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security

United Nations Security Council

Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security was adopted by the United Nations Security Council on October 31, 2000. UNSCR 1325 was created to acknowledge the disproportionate impact of war on women, and the crucial role women should and do play in conflict management, conflict resolution, and sustainable peace. The resolution calls for participation of women in peace processes, gender training in peacekeeping operations, protection of women and girls and respect for their rights, and gender mainstreaming in the reporting and implementation systems of the United Nations relating to conflict, peace and security.
