Women can be powerful actors in achieving peace, especially as political leaders. This report examines the evidence base on women's leadership as it relates to peace and security, outlines the barriers to women's political participation, and concludes with policy recommendations for the U.S. government to promote women's leadership vis-à-vis the Women, Peace & Security Act of 2017.
